Late nights with cookies :)

For the past 2 days, I had been working late nights [ermm it is due to my busy schedule with meet ups and some miscellaneous stuff going on during the week. Hence, I gotta 'worked' OT (overtime) for the nights so that I am able to 交货 (aka producing the orders on time)].

I shall summarize to cut this post short, just so that I can rest before going to church (don't wanna fall asleep in church =x). A friend's daughter is celebrating her 3rd birthday. He had wanted 'Dora Themed' sweet treats which.....I don't think I am up for it and just by buying Dora toppers to place on cakes / cupcakes are just so not sincere. Hence, I suggested cookie toppers but it is just too much work to draw Dora on the sugar cookies. So we decided to do some cute cookie toppers to be placed on top of the cupcakes.

Decoration of the cookies on my dining table, trying to be as tidy as I could. Seriously decorating cookies is somewhat therapeutic at times but also testing my PATIENCE at times.....

Finally the all cookies were done after one long day, one long night and one long morning. Learned a lot from this experience, I could have done better and faster. I am sure I will do good the next time round :)

More pretty pictures of the cookies!!! After much hardwork, I must showcase more pictures of them =x

Finally topped on frosted cupcakes!!!

One improvement needed is to think of ways to prevent the cookies from softening. As it is placed directly on top of the frosting, the wetness of the frosting will be absorbed by the cookies. Also, the cookies were not packed or sealed in airtight containers. Hence, cookies turning soft is kinda inevitable. hmmm...

By the way, I think in my previous sugar cookie post, I did not explain how these sugar cookies are decorated. I didnt take photos of the step by step process but drew it out via 'Paint' as seen below.

So you see just 1 simple cookie, I will have to wait for each layer to dry before adding details. Starting from flooding the base (#1) which will take a few hours to dry completely (usually I do it the night before so I can add the details the next morning when it has completely dry). I will then move on to the cake stand (#2) which takes about 30mins to dry (I will work on other cookies while waiting and get back to it when it dries). I continue with #3 and 4, followed by #5 then #6 and finally #7.

Decorating cookies is just one tedious process because before decorating, you have to come out with the design, the colours, the steps for the addition of details, etc. However, the outcome will be very rewarding. Seeing trays of pretty cookies just make your day! You will be smiling and thinking, it is all worth the effort. :D

Seems like this post isn't that short after all. Crossing my fingers I wouldn't doze off in church =x

Ending with a photo of the Milo cupcakes that I had made for a good friend who ordered and brought them with her for her 'Unknown Destination Bachelorette Trip'.

Hmmm...are you able to figure out what is written on the frostings? I had wanted to keep the frosting white so that the letters will be more prominent. But I thought, Milo cream cheese frosting would turn out really yummy. I just had to add Milo powder to the cream cheese frosting. Sorry I go for taste over look =x

I shall end off for today. Happy weekend and God bless~! ^^

xx,
TBG
